Lesson Program
At the New York School of Bandura, we believe that music education should be accessible to everyone. We offer a range of lessons for students of ages 7+ and abilities, from beginner to advanced. Our experienced instructors create customized lesson plans tailored to each student’s individual goals within group lessons and private lessons.
Private Lesson
Individual in-person or virtual lessons with one of our instructors. Lessons include bandura tuning, technical exercises, sight-reading, music theory training, and playing through solo and ensemble pieces. $60 per student/hour.
Group Lesson
Students will be placed in groups with other players of a similar level and age. Each group will have 1 or 2 instructors. Students will hone their musical skills together while preparing ensemble pieces.. $30 per student/45 min.
Bandura Rental
Bandura rental 75$ per semester
Based on a 3-semester basis (dates to-be-confirmed)
Fall Semester: September-December
Spring Semester: January-April
Summer Semester: May-August

Basic Beginner
Lessons will be focused on learning about the bandura, and gaining familiarity with the instrument. Students will learn how to hold a bandura, how to find their notes, and how to transfer basic music reading and theory skills to the bandura. Once these students are familiar with the instrument, they will learn to play basic melodies in a solo or ensemble setting.

Beginner
Lessons will include bandura tuning, basic bandura information, posture work, exercises with the left and right hands, music theory and sight-reading training, as well as playing through basic pieces during the semester.

Intermediate
Lessons will include reviewing posture and bandura instrument basics, exercises in chord inversions, learning how to tune their bandura, advancing their music theory and sight reading skills, and will emphasize playing all repertoire with left-hand bass notes.
4
Advanced
Students will be required to tune their bandura before their sessions. These lessons will include playing advanced exercises, learning extended techniques, further strengthening sight-reading skills, and developing musical nuance in their solo or ensemble pieces.
